A New People Finder: Meet And Greet Through Foursquare

It’s a good people finder system that helps every one updated from friend’s activities—even their thoughts.

After the fun and friendly experience with Friendster, Hi5 and other social networking sites comes Facebook and Twitter.  But as the craze for “following” and “add as friend” is concern, these sites still has their limits. Good thing there are people who love technology and are into trying new things to test out especially in keeping people closer than before.

A new social networking site is at hand that marks people meeting personally by just a mobile link. This is not texting; this is foursquare. All a person needs is a mobile phone to give out posts as to his whereabouts and his messages to his friends. Twitter allows a person to have friends updated yet their number becomes crowded in a little while. Facebook has become an effective marketing avenue and at times have become means for a person to get entertained with the games they play.

Foursquare is an innovation from Dennis Crowley, the maker of Dodgeball. The former application was first introduced in 2004, and was sold to Google year 2005 which unfortunately ended since it relied on heavy texting. The idea was revived later on with his business partner Naveen Selvadurai. They first introduced Foursquare last March during an annual technology and music conference that draws media types, Internet entrepreneurs and techy fans.

What made Foursquare different from other application that offers the same help—keeping friends in touch especially in meeting with their gaming and social competition. They have gotten out of the boring frenzy of just updating friends from mobiles by allowing them to interact in such. What’s more is that users are able to control who are allowed to see their updates which are considered personal and for a certain group only.

At present the said friend network and people finder application is being improved further by its developers. They are trying to improve allowing it to be more fun by letting players do more stuffs and getting rewards. Foursquare is available in 31 cities including Ney York, San Francisco, Boston, and Washington. Its services also include cities outside the US vicinity including three from Canada.

Keeping friends and family updated with the latest happenings, especially with one’s location, is at hand. This is one way to meet them without a hassle of being subject to letting other people know that may crowd a person. A good people finder has gone through mobile.  Now socializing is definitely more fun.
